In 1994, several critical challenges faced the new social welfare function. These included inequitable service provision, fragmentation of services and services which failed to meet the development needs of the people. The past five years have seen the development and implementation of policies and programmes to address these problems.CPOA is an old age home with a caring and integrated system of social development services that facilitates human development and improves the quality of life.They enable the poor, the vulnerable and the excluded within South African society to secure a better life for themselves, in partnership with them and with all those who are committed to building a caring society.

Internships are available in the fields of nursing management and general work with elderly people. At this stage you would have to help with a situational analysis and development of a system to promote appropriate cost effective care for 120 frail and aged residents within restricted financial resources.
