The name Durr Estates has been synonymous with Real Estate in the Western Cape for 32 years. During this time Durr has been consistently amongst the top 5 agencies covering the Western Cape Area and is highly respected amongst 'the big five?. Durr was started by the Durr family and has over the years changed direction a number of times in terms of Branch Networks, Franchising and Licencing. This became necessary due to the involvement of the banking sector into Real Estate Companies. Over time the Durr family sold its interests in the brand. In November 2001, a joint venture company bought the Durr brand and created a unique company called Durr Holdings. Durr Holdings does not operate as an estate agency, but rather has offered the brand to 'licensees? throughout the Western Cape, to be operated as individually owned businesses. In addition to this, the licensees have the option of acquiring shares in Durr Holdings, thereby controlling the continuity of the brand.

The partners in the joint venture company and majority shareholders in the Durr brand are Eskel Jawitz Real Estate (a major player in the Gauteng area) and the Wakefields Property Group (the Real Estate leaders in Kwazulu Natal). Both Eskel Jawitz and Keith Wakefield, in thier personal capacities, are past Presidents of the Insitute of Estate Agents of South Africa and past Chairman of the Estate Agents Affairs Board of South Africa. They are truly doyens of the Real Estate industry in Southern Africa. This adds a further strength to Durr Estates, in that their Referral System is truly countrywide and their Training Academy the best of large organizations. Durr Estates primarily looks after the Residental and Rental needs of the Real Estate spectrum, but do have devisions and expertise in Commercial and Industrial Property, Agricutural Property, Auctioneering, Property Management, Development and Project Management
