Chile liegt entlang der südamerikanischen Westküste und erstreckt sich dabei von der Antarktis im Süden des Landes bis hin nach Peru im Norden. Wegen der ungeheuren Länge erstreckt sich das Land über nahezu alle möglichen Klimazonen: Wüstenklima, mediterranes Klima, heißes regenreiches Klima, kaltes regenreiches Klima, Meeresklima mit viel Regen, kaltes Steppenklima, Tundra, Polargebiet und sogar subtropischem Klima auf der Osterinsel. Das Land ist in 12 Regionen unterteilt, die wie auf einer Perlenkette von Norden nach Süden mit römischen Zahlen betitelt sind (I ganz im Norden und XII ganz im Süden). Zwischen V und VI liegt noch die Hauptstadtregion mit Santiago. Im Oktober 2007 hat sich aus der Region X die "Región de los Ríos" abgespalten und heißt seitdem Region XIV. Chile ist aber ein Zentralstaat in dem alles von der Hauptstadtregion gesteuert wird. Nahezu 40% des mit 16 Mio. bevölkerten Landes leben in der Hauptstadt Santiago de Chile. Weitere große Städte lauten: Concepción und Valparaíso. Politisch ist Chile eine Präsidialrepublik mit einer Verfassung von 1980. Landessprache ist spanisch.

The City:

• Santiago de Chile is a bustling, modern capital nestled in a valley amidst the ever-present backdrop of the majestic Andes mountain range.
• One of Latin America's main financial centres, the city is home to about 40% of the country's population (around 5 million people).
• Santiago is centrally located, making it a convenient home base for trips to the north, south, and central coastal regions of Chile.

The mansion was built in 1925 by an important architect of the era. The house, as well as the entire block, has been recently declared to be national monuments, since they are in the very historic center of Chile. Their interiors are decorated with marble and wooden floors

The house will have 14 classrooms, 5 bathrooms, a video room, an internet room, a cafetería, a spacious and cozy living room, a terrace with panoramic view of the center of Santiago, wide enough in which various entertainment activities can take place.

The house counts with bright, comfortable and spacious rooms. The decoration shows the beauty of antique and modern architecture.

Courses start every Monday.

• Intensive group course: 20 group classes/week
• Super-intensive group course: 20 group classes/week + 10 one to one classes
• One to One private course: 10 classes/week

Classes are held Monday to Friday. There are group classes every day, for a period of four hours, each lesson lasting 55 minutes.

All of the teachers are native Spanish speakers from Chile, trained and experienced in teaching Spanish to foreigners. They have teaching degrees and are culturally sensitive. Having travelled to different countries themselves, they are able to interact successfully with the students and offer assistance when needed.

In order to help you improve your Spanish speaking skills and your knowledge of the culture we offer you, a host family where you will have a single room with half board.

On weekends the school organises excursions into the Andes or to the Pacific Coast. Rafting, climbing courses and trekking tours are all part of the school’s extra activities.

Cultural excursions include:

• Vineyard tour followed by wine tasting
• The museum-house of Pablo Neruda
• Visit to the "Palacio Cousiño"
• Chat with the indigenous group and cultural centre, CONACIN
• Visit with a local environmental NGO
• Visit to a project of KAIROS - social work against poverty
• Visit to the Archaeological Museum and walk to the Cerro Sta. Lucia
• Visit to the Memorial of the victims of the Pinochet dictatorship
