Arequipa is situated very close to the Peruvian Andes, rising at an altitude nearing the 2400 meters from the sea. The city is Peru's second-largest city and a close rival to Cuzco in Colonial charm.
The historical center of Arequipa was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000 by UNESCO.
The city lies at the foot of the snow-capped “El Misti” volcano, and is surrounded by over 80 majestic volcanoes in an area known as The Valley of Volcanoes.
Our partner school in Arequipa occupies a beautiful and historical colonial building, in the cobblestone street of La Merced, only two short blocks from the Plaza de Armas – Arequipa’s Main Square.
The two-story building is made up of 11 classrooms, an indoor patio, a video room, an auditorium, and a beautiful interior plaza. It is conveniently located near restaurants, cafes, the main post office, banks, the cathedral and museums. Free wireless access (WiFi) is available to our students, however, there are also several internet cafés nearby.
